Belinda Humphries integrative practitioner draws on many major schools of psychotherapy

About me

I have always been fascinated by people – how we relate to each other and what makes us tick. I am particularly interested in the ways in which early experiences can continue to affect our feelings and behaviour in adult life.

Career

In 1997, after a varied career, I began training, first as a counsellor and later as a psychotherapist, at the Metanoia Institute in Ealing.

I have been offering therapy in a variety of voluntary and paid settings since 1998. My experience includes: youth counselling; bereavement counselling; working in an NHS GP Surgery; general counselling in the voluntary sector; private practice

I combine working as a therapist with committee work for a local counselling charity and with teaching life skills, counselling and counselling skills

Approach

I believe that, given the right environment, we all have the potential to grow and develop into our full selves. I know that, for many people, the therapy relationship can provide this environment in terms of the support and challenge it offers on the journey of personal growth.

I describe myself as an Integrative practitioner because I draw on the insights of many of the major schools of psychotherapy in my work. I believe that each therapy relationship is unique and no individual school of thought fits everybody.
